Arrest made after hunt for jogger who 'pushed' woman into path of bus on Putney Bridge

This statement is issued in relation to our client Mr Eric Bellquist, who was arrested yesterday in relation to an assault that took place between a male jogger and a female pedestrian on 5 May 2017 on Putney Bridge, London.

Surveillance footage of a May 5 incident on London's Putney Bridge went viral earlier this month after it was released by London authorities.

A banker has been released without charge after a woman was pushed in front of a bus by a jogger.

But, 48 hours after news of the arrest was announced, the Met police said they had released Bellquist and eliminated him from the investigation.

According to Buzzfeed, Sergeant Mat Knowles, the investigating officer from Putney Safer Neighborhood Team, said: "The victim was put in extreme danger when she was knocked into the road".

"Consequently we expect a swift resolution to this wholly untrue allegation", he said. The bus stops just before hitting the woman.

In a statement, police said the man they arrested had been cleared "with no further action" to be taken. Police have renewed their appeal for witnesses, saying their "inquiries continue".

Seconds later, a bus is seen swerving out of the way, and narrowly missing the woman, who suffered minor injuries.

Police described the jogger as a white man in his 30s with brown eyes and short brown hair.

The jogger came back across the bridge 15 minutes later and refused to acknowledge the victim when she confronted him.
