Visiting Saudi Arabia on Sunday, the controversial American leader singled out Iran as a key source of funding and support for militant groups in the Middle East, sending an unhelpful and unwanted message to Tehran the day after Rouhani won a second presidential term.

Iran backs groups in the region that resist Israel and its unending lawlessness.

Earlier Monday, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qassemi called on Washington to abandon its "warmongering policy, intervention, Iranophobia and sales of risky and useless weapons to the main sponsors of terrorism", according to state-run Press TV.

"The Islamic Republic is ready to cooperate in every way with other countries, including France, to fight terrorism and solve the Syrian crisis", stated Rouhani during a talk with French President Macron, quoted by Iranian news agency IRNA. "We hope Europe does not fall into the trap of countries that promote their wrong interpretations of the region", Rouhani said.

This is not to say that the Iranian people are in favour of Rouhani, a man who executed almost 4,000 people in just four years, boasts about Iran's support for the dictator Bashar al-Assad, and now presides over an Iran where millions live in poverty; just that Khamenei felt that Raisi would cause the biggest protests. The accord took effect in January 2016 and was supposed to terminate all nuclear-related sanctions against Iran all at once, but its implementation has been hampered due to United States policies.

"Rouhani said at a news conference on Monday that stability could not be achieved in the Middle East without Tehran's help".

On May 21, Trump spoke at a summit in Saudi Arabia where he urged Arab and Muslim to "work together to isolate Iran" unless it is "willing to be a partner for peace".

Iran, Russia and Turkey are now cooperating to restore ceasefire in order to create a calm situation for the people in Syria, he said.

Instead, the only Regime change would be brought by those outside of the Regime, specifically the Iranian Resistance, led by Maryam Rajavi, who has a ten-point plan for a free and democratic Iran.

Iran and the USA back opposing sides in the civil wars in Syria and Yemen, but they are both fighting the jihadist group Islamic State in Iraq. It was Iran, Syria, Hezbollah and Russian Federation. "Those who fund terrorists can not claim they are fighting against them".
