THOMASTOWN – Christmas is just around the corner, and with that comes some gift shopping too. It’s time for the Country Roads Christmas shopping extravaganza, and if you visit them all there could be some great prizes to be won by you.

Taking place the weekend of Dec. 6 and Dec. 7, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Country Roads Christmas is one of your best local shopping choices if you’re looking to virtually eliminate any chance of giving a gift which somebody else may have purchased. With 16 specialty shops, stores, and places to eat on the tour along the way, there is no shortage of chances to find a unique gift for that someone special on your list, while enjoying the Christmas shopping atmosphere with family, loved ones and friends.

When you arrive at your first store on the tour, make sure to ask for your stamp card so you can be entered in to the drawings for prizes and have it stamped at every store you visit. This year’s grand prize is valued at over $800 with an Adirondack chair and gift certificates from each shop. In addition to this is a second place prize of $300 worth of gift certificates, and a third place prize for 16 individuals of a $10 gift certificate redeemable at one of the participating stores and shops.

Joyce Dossett, of The Kitchen Garden, is very excited about this year’s festivities. “It is such a fun way to support local businesses and have a great time doing it. There will be refreshments at each stop, along with special offers. The shop owners look forward to it as much as the shoppers do, and we always enjoy seeing and meeting all the people who come out and attend!”

Gail Whittle, of County Mischief, who is participating in the CRC weekend added, “I have personally gone on the tour three times, as I love the hustle and bustle along with every part of it and seeing how much the people enjoy it. I will be sneaking out with a few friends and loved ones like so many will be doing!”

Covering the local and area communities of Barre, Petersham, Phillipston, Templeton, and Winchendon the adventure brings no shortage of fun, eating and dinning, and not limited to but most importantly simply having an experience that is not the “same old- same old” you get in a large department store. Simply put when you walk in the doors of these establishments you are not a number, you’re a person.
